Sled Dog Racing. The Alaska Dog Mushers' Assoc. hosts a series of dog races beginning in mid-December with preliminary races, and ending in March with the Open North American Championship. Fairbanks also hosts the 1,000 mile Yukon Quest Sled Dog Race between Fairbanks and Whitehorse, YT. The Yukon Quest alternates start and finish between the 2 cities.
The 1996 Yukon Quest dog sled race. It starts on the Chena river. The dogs wear booties on there feet to protect them from the cold and ice. The Chena River is also where we like to ride our snow machines.
