A Native of South Mississippi, born on November 19, 1957. It all started with my grandfather who played the fiddle. My father, a licensed Minister, sang in the church choir and sang solo at church functions. I also sang in the church choir but I began to write lyrics at the age of 18. At that time I submitted my work to record companies. At the age of 22 I bought my first guitar for fifty dollars and some "how to" instruction books. I taught myself to play the guitar. After several months of learning to play the guitar, I combined the lyrics and composition with vocals and that was my first song. For the next three and a half years I worked on my guitar techniques, my lyrics and singing capabilities.
In 1982 my first record "I've Been Blowin' In The Wind" was released backed with "I Love To Lay And Dream" on PMP Label.
At this time I became a member of the BMI. I had written over 100 songs, between 1983 and 1984 more studio work was done. I did live performances in the local area of the songs I had written. The live performances stirred up interest from other local bands. There were others on the road performing my songs on the stage. In 1984, I traveled to Nashville on more than one occasion to pitch some of my best works. My work was rejected. I decided at this point to put more emphasis on my career in the grocery industry, but there remained in my heart a melody for song the next fifteen years.
In November, 1998 I began once again pitching a song I had written in 1984 to publishers and record companies throughout the United States. This sparked my interest and I started writing songs again. After I got started again it was as though I had never quit. A few months went by and I received and e-mail from Misty Dawn of RMCMA. She was interested in listening to the song "I Dedicate This Song To You". After Misty received the song, I got a phone call from her to sign the song to a publishing contract. As a result, I have sent her more than 20 new songs to review. On July 29, 1999, "I Dedicate This Song To You", "It's Worth Loving You", and "I Can't Resist" will be released on the RMCMA label. In mid August 1999, "Country Music Hero" will be released.
I thank Misty Dawn for her interest and belief in my songwriting ability.
