Born on December 27, 1963 to Billy and Shirley Edwards, who also had two more boys and three girls. I started playing guitar and singing at age twelve with a strong love of country music. Most of my family grew up singing or playing some type of instrument. All the holidays would be filled with music, with cousins, aunts, and uncles coming over to play music, sing and dance. I was very much into Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty and George Jones in those early years. Of course as I grew older I came to enjoy and to try and mimic the newer folks on the scene like, Hank Jr., Randy Travis, Alan Jackson and my favorite, George Strait. Got my first paid music experience playing night clubs as lead singer and rhythm guitar player in a band formed by my oldest brother at age 19, and it has been a way of life ever since. From the moment I performed that first song and the people applauded I knew I could get to love this. I played with many different musicians over the years in country, rock, and Pop bands, and now play with an absolutely fantastic group of guys which we call "Cuttin' Edge". We travel around Alabama playing music festivals, private and corporate parties, charity events, and of course we hit a few night clubs on occasion. We try to play a good variety of music so that we can fit to many different occasions. Our song list contains a large variety of country and rock, both new and old, many pop songs, some old disco tunes and now some alternative music for the opening for such groups as, "Foghat" and "The Kentucky Head Hunters", and this summer for "Wade Hayes" and "Deryl Dodd". I have been writing songs for a few years now and have purchased a digital minidisc recorder to lay down the early work with. I must say the recording part of this is almost as fun as performing the songs live. Except you don't get that rush of excitement you get when you see all the fans and they are hollerin' and screamin' for you. Whew! Whew! I have a lovely wife, Jennifer, or "Lucy" as we call her, and two great children, my son Adam, and my daughter, Amy. All of them are what really makes my world turn. Of course without them all of my music wouldn't be, and if it was, it would not be the same. I presently am employed in the research and development department of a major controlled realease fertilizer manufacturer. I have been working there for just over 10 years now. |
