Maid In Australia

Tunes composed by Bill Anderson

A collection of fifty original celtic style tunes,

Complete with guitar chords.

Introduction.

This is a fairly varied collection in which I think anybody who likes Celtic music will find something of interest. Some of the tunes are very simple, others need a bit of skill to get the best out of. All of them were written on the flute, but with some, I had other instruments in mind. Most can be played on any of the melody instruments commonly used in Celtic music.

As with most Celtic music the ornamentation is an integral part of the music, so try and put it in. Most of the tunes are dance music so the timing is very important. Rhythm is more important than speed.

There are a few unusual tunes here and there but I think they are worthwhile playing, especially if you like things a little out of the ordinary. I do.

Anyway, I hope you find this book satisfying.

Bill Anderson.

H: This one's not really traditional rhythmwise, but it's a good fun tune. Don't let the time signature put you off as it's really quite simple. Count it 1234 123 12 12. Emphasize the number 1 count where the beat is. Sounds best if driven fairly hard.
