Teri Lyon's History

Teri Lyon

Teri has been singing since she was two. Having tried several instruments she settled on guitar at the age of 12 and immediately began performing in talent shows, on a local television show and, when old enough, in lounges and restaurants. While still in high school she performed in a Heart Fund Benefit on the roster with Minnie Pearl and the Statler Brothers. Her focus turned to theater in college where she earned a BFA in Drama at UNC-Greensboro. But after a stint in professional theater in Atlanta, GA she returned to her first love of music, playing in establishments from Florida to New England and into the mid-west. While living and performing in Toledo, Ohio she was featured in 2 one-hour specials on the local Public Radio station and in a half hour television special. Eventually she moved to Los Angeles where, after returning from a two month engagement in Japan, she met and began performing with Jack Justis. Jack had a long history as a rock lead guitarist having played with several successful bands in New York including the Travis-Justis Group that performed in Jesus Christ Superstar on tour and on Broadway. (Jack and his group are recorded on the original Superstar album.) With his encouragement she mastered the banjo and returned to the keyboard as well. Together they performed throughout the Los Angeles area including such well known hot spots as The Smokehouse and Chadney's across from Burbank Studios. They moved to the San Diego area in '89 performing in local clubs and on the harbor cruises. Then moved back to the east coast north of Tampa, FL to continue in local clubs and casinos. Teri is still performing as a single when she can as she makes a living as a freelance graphic artist.
