This is one of the Bayou bands, circa 1989. Or a partial
shot. From left to right; Glen Colliver, Sound Tech,
from Wichita Falls, Texas; Trace Adkins, Lead Vocalist;
Randy Stafford, Keyboard Player; and Clint Pitre,
Drummer, from Oppelousas, Louisiana.
We had a great time on the road, there are a thousand
memories between here New Mexico. One in particular was when
the Santa Fe Junction in San Angelo, TX had Hawaiin
Night.
We all dressed the part. Of course, in a dark club,
(not too mention in the middle of the night), Trace had
to do the shades for the full effect.
Even though he clowned around quite a bit, he was great with an audience. One thing I'll say about Trace, he always gave 100%. It didn't matter if it was a big venue or small, he knew when to step on the gas.
I was always watching, I was always absorbing and learning, it was an intense training seminar on how to work audiences, how to follow the mood of the venue, how to second guess dancers and what will put them on the dance floor, and, how to sell beer. It goes with the club circuit territory. Besides all that, it was great. The band got along pretty well, most of the time, and that made it for me.
We played at the "Country Connection" in Dallas quite a number
of times and usually when we did, we had guests. Pictured here,
in 1988 with Trace, is Rose Middleton, wife of our then
guitar player, Billy Bob "Bear" Middleton. Rose is a wonderful
person. I believe she's teaching school somewhere in
Davidson County now.
If you remember watching the first time Trace debuted on
the Grand Old Opry singing "Every Light In The House
Is On", his
band wasn't with him. He had a lone guitar player backing him
up. Guess who? That was Billy Bob.
Speaking of "Bear", I found another shot. This is the band back 1988. Pictured at left, from left to right is myself, "Bear", Trace, Clint and Mike Pair.
You know, this could probably turn out to be the cameo page because I've got a few photos tucked away in my attic. So, stay tuned.
