Hello, My name is Steven White and I live in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. I just want to say thank you for supporting St. Judes. In a nutshell, I want to tell you why. In 1997 my 4-year old son was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer ( a rare tumor). It was discovered "accidentally" through a car accident, when X-rays were taken as a precaution. We were referred to a Doctor in Tulsa. He did a surgery which was not successful and told us it was hopeless. He did not and could not remove all of the tumor. The surgery itself had caused much damage. Our son would die, he said. We contacted St. Judes, whom we'd heard of. They took his case. A surgery was done almost immediately. He has been Cancer-free ever since! He is 98% functional now. We still go back to St.Judes for check-ups. At the time we first went in 1997 we were broke and on Oklahoma medicare, which did not cover much of an out-of-state operation. They took him regardless, asked for no money, gave us a nice place to stay, and gas money for the trip. On top of all of that we found out through nurses and collegues, that his surgeon (Dr. Robert Sanford) was rated third in the entire world in his field. He is also famous among Doctors we also found when mentioning his name to other doctors. Thier reaction is usually "you mean THE Doctor Robert Sandford?" We love it, he deserves it. Anyway, Saint Judes is Heaven on Earth, literally. Our son would not be here without them. We tell everyone about them, and any seriously ill child we hear of, we contact the parents and tell them especially. Keep up the good work. I am very happy to see you supporting them.
