APPLE DUMPLINGS
6 apples 2 cups flour 4 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 cup shortening 3/4 cup milk sugar 1 cup water dash of cinnamon 1-1/2 cups sugar 1 stick butter
Peel and core apples. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening. Add milk. Pinch dough into equal parts. Roll out dough and place apples in center of each piece of dough. Put l Tbl. sugar in center of each apple. Pull dough up around apple and place in baking dish.
Mix water, cinnamon, l- l/2 cups sugar, and butter. Bring to boil and pour over dumplings. Bake l5 minutes at 450 oven then reduce heat to 350 for additional 45 minutes. Baste 2 to 3 times. |
