Have you lost that sweet smoke from your pipe that you have always looked forward to? It might be time to get that pipe in for a professional cleaning and refurbishing.  First let's start with the basics.
It is inevitable that your pipe will eventually lose it's sweet smoking characteristics. Every smoke leaves tars and burnt sugars in the bowl. If smoked too often and not given sufficient time to dry out you are asking for a sour pipe. Most manufacturers recommend resting the pipe in an upright position for 24 hours after smoking one bowl. I have found this to work best for myself, but realize not everyone has enough pipes to do this.
To help slow down the process of your pipe souring, here are a few things you can do:

  • During your smoke, use pipe cleaners occasionally in the stem to help absorb the moisture from combustion.

  • After you have finished, I recommend that you wipe the pipe and stem down with a soft cloth. There are a few manufacturers that sell products to help keep your pipe and stems shiny. I have not tried these, but I have friends who use them all the time.
  • Next, run a pipe cleaner through the stem until it comes out clean. I usually dip mine in Everclear or rum. Then place them in a rack out of direct sunlight and let them dry for a day or two.

What if it just doesn't smoke well anymore?

Then it is time for a professional cleaning. In most cases your local tobacconist can help. If you don't have a local tobacconist or they don't do pipe work, then I'm here to help.
We will professionally clean and remove all traces of tars from the stem, shank and air hole. The cake will be trimmed and the bowl will be boiled out to remove the excess tars and sugars form the cake. The exterior of the pipe and stem will be cleaned and buffed with a coat of carnuba wax for protection.

The Cost
Each pipe costs $10 plus shipping. Your pipe will be returned to you as close to new condition as possible, usually within 10 days. I also clean every fifth pipe free. Ask your tobacconist if he does that.
I also guarantee your satisfaction or your money back!
