I seem to always stop here for lunch whenever I head
up north. It has a very roomy pub/beer hall atmosphere. I like that
the brewery is clearly visible from anywhere in the pub. The moving friar
and dwarves provide an interesting touch. This is the only microbrewery
I know of in the states with a glockenspiel. St. Stan's makes one
of my favorite dark beers, actually for the style I not aware of any one
else making a dark alt beer. They also make one of the best barley
wines I have ever tasted, its only available for a short time once a year
and they don't bottle it. I've seen the new label they have come
up with, it seems they are trying to come up with a more contemporary look.
The old look set them apart now they look like all the rest.
I've had some of the best service and some of the worst service, good service
seems the norm though.
