CARAWAY SCONES

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/2 tablespoons sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon caraway seeds

1/2 teaspoon salt

3 tablespoons stick margarine; chilled & cut into small pieces

2/3 cup 1% low-fat milk

1 large egg; lightly beaten

cooking spray

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

2. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, caraway seeds and salt and cut in margarine with a pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse meal. Combine milk and egg; add to flour mixture, stirring just until moist (dough will be sticky).

3. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead 4-5 times. Pat dough into an 8-inch circle on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Cut dough into 12 wedges, cutting into, but not through, dough. Bake scones for 15 minutes. Serve warm.
