"Today more than ever before life must be
characterized by a sense of Universal Responsibility,
not only nation to nation and human to human,
but also human to other forms of life."
His Holiness The Dalai Lama

Animals have feelings,
and families who live and grow and play together.
Goldie and Shorty at 41 days old
Not ready to grow up--41 days old

Squirrels have mothers to feed them
and guide them, and to kiss their noses.
Goldie nurtured five teeny pups in her burrow for about 30 days and brought them out April 24. (Left and above at 41 days old.) Shorty doesn't want to grow up. After 12 days topside the litter runt still fakes a sweet kiss to take food from mama's mouth.

Sweet and Shorty hang together.
(Below, one week out of the burrow.) Sweet shares food and defends the Shorty from the Alpha Pup when the play gets too rowdy.

At 44 days old (below) the little ones
are losing their fresh, baby faces.
Squirrels have siblings to fight with
and dance with and to hide behind.
"They too are created by the loving hand of God
which created us. It is our duty to protect them
and to promote their well-being." Mother Teresa

"Kindness to the whole animal creation and especially to all domestic animals
is not only a virtue that should be developed but is the absolute duty of mankind.
Nature in all forms is our Heavenly Father's great book of life."
 Joseph Smith

Squirrels have plenty to say.
If we can't read the signs
it isn't the animals who are dumb.

We're all in this together.
"The Earth does not belong to man; man belongs to the Earth. This we know. All things are connected like the blood which unites one family. Whatever befalls the Earth befalls the sons of the Earth. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself."   Chief Seattle
Earth ... God's gift, man's stewardship.
Tread lightly; for your kids, and for Goldie's.
