Special Features

while Myriad Magic doesn't have the latest 3D graphics going for it, it makes up for that in other areas. if you've ever played wizardry, or any of the old ad&D ssi games, then you know what myriad magic is trying to replicate. here are a few examples of what kind of mud myriad magic is:
Talking with monsters: there is actually something other to do to monsters besides instantly destroy them. you can find out valuable and often necessary information by talking with monsters and npcs. of course, there is even a diplomacy skill for such endeavors.
Realistic player death: when you die, you are dead. it is even worse if your entire team dies, for then there is no one to resurrect you! right now, while mm is still relatively new, players can type 'raise' to resurrect themselves (for a fee, of course...)
Intrigue and roleplaying: roleplaying is encouraged on mm, but we're not tyrants so you are really free to do what you want. mm is composed of a large storyline that can be hard to follow, but we believe that a good storyline is essential for any successful game. mm is not, after all, a cheap imitatiion of last year's action game.
Original fantasy content: myriad magic is a land of medieval fantasy and wonder. while there may be a dash of advanced technology (especially later in the game) this is because of lost advanced civilizations, or advanced civilizations that existed before the world became medieval again. that means that there may be a few muskets out there in the black market, somewhere.
Monsters with intelligence: the monsters possess ai (artificial intelligence). this means that bashing down doors, screaming really loud, or casting a fireball spell will alert monsters and make them aware that danger is nearby. monsters will heal themselves when they are hurt (if they can), flee when fighting an obviously superior enemy, and group together to help each other out. while a player with a ring of regeneration and plate mail +1 won't fear a stout troll with sharp claws, he may think twice about attacking two!
Ability Scores
Myriad Magic has ability scores slightly different from standard MUDs:
Strength: A measure of your character's physical power and muscle mass. This directly affects combat prowress and how effective your character is in combat.
Dexterity: The combination of your character's agility and speed. Characters with high dexterity are agile and quick, dodging blows more often than those with average dexterity. High dexterity also helps with saving throws.
Constitution: Your character's vitality and stamina. A character with high Constitution will be able to resist diseases better, swim longer, and perform better at other similar tasks.
Devotion: This determines your character's laziness level. A character with high devotion will be able to study harder, resist the effects of magical sleep, and perform better at other similar tasks involving willpower.
Intelligence: How complex your character is mentally. A character with high intelligence learns fast and efficiently.
Luck: The mysterious ability to seemingly possess nine lives! While some characters seem to possess bad luck, others have good luck, dodging a worse fate more than normal.
