Professions

In the cold, dark lands of Myriad Magic, adventurers must become more adept than the commoner in order to survive. Whether it be through magic or swordsmanship, the standard adventurer can defend himself if need be. There are four types of professions your character may become, and each category has its own sub-category that branches off, and specializes in it's own way.

General Profession Types

Warrior Priest Rogue Wizard
Fighter Cleric Thief Mage
Samurai Lord Ninja Bishop
Ranger Monk Bard Psionic

Fighter: These are your basic men-at-arms. They are the most knowledgeable class when it comes to combat and tactics. They may wield practically any weapon, equip all armor, and gain the most hit points. Fighters may not cast spells and do not possess any rogue skills, but their expertise in battle more than makes up for this.

Lord: Akin to the fighter, Lords are the chevaliers and crusader knights of Myriad Magic. The most elite class, they walk a straight and narrow path that is very difficult to stray from. They can wield any weapon that is considered honorable, and cannot use any equipment which is evil-aligned. They possess a few unique abilities, and begin to learn elementary Priest spells at higher levels. Lastly, all lords must be good aligned.

Thief: For those feeling more than a little larcenous, the profession of thief may be just for you. While thieves are not exactly honorable, they are not entirely dishonorable, either. They are granted all of the rogue skills, such as the ability to disarm traps and pick locks.

Ninja: These dark and mysterious figures are one of the most elite classes within Myriad Magic. The ninja relish their role as spies, assassins, martial art masters and stand-by emergency fighters. Ninjas may wield any weapon, but disdain armor, as their AC decreases gradually as they gain levels. They can sometimes kill a monster with one strike, no matter how large. At higher levels, they learn up to second level Wizard spells.

Cleric: Clerics are the mainstream class of the Priest caste. Sturdy in combat and devoted to their religious cause, they begin to learn Priest spells starting at first level. Clerics may wear up to medium armor, and wield any weapon that doesn't slash or pierce. Clerics are the only class that can learn any and all Priest spells.

Samurai: These folk are fantastic warriors, learning to master the art of the sword and polearm in addition to learning Wizard spells later on. While their weapon selection is limited, and they may only wear up to medium armor, their versatility is nearly unmatched by any other class.

Mage: Mages are the general class of scholarly individuals who dedicate their life to the pursuit of arcane lore and magical knowledge. They are the weavers of magical spells and energies, learning to tap the energy that exists in all matter and weave it into difference forces. Mages are the least physical of all classes, and commonly wear robes and wield a staff or dagger. Like the psionic, a mage has the potential of becoming extremely powerful as they advance in level.

Bishop: Bishops are Priests who choose to study Wizard magic as well. Their devotion to both areas of magic requires that they learn both fields slower than a more specialized Mage or Cleric; however, they possess a conglomerate of skills intermediate to both of those classes. Bishops cannot learn the most powerful Mage or Cleric spells.

Ranger: Rangers are warriors, protectors of the great forests and followers of the nature deity. They do not always rely on their combat prowress though, as many rangers prefer to use intellect over brute strength. They possess a wide range of skills, learning elementary Priest spells at higher levels.

Bard: Bards are minstrels and jacks of all trades, gaining a variety of skills during their travels. Many bards are known as scoundrels, but they know this is not true. All bards possess musical talent and the ability to interact with others very well; thus, they are adept in areas of negotiation. While most bards are light hearted, and a little light fingered, many of them will join a group of adventurers, ready to put their skills to service.

Monk: The monk is a devout, religious and spiritually whole individual, who relies on his mind and body for the answer to any situation. They are adept in martial arts, and their devoted side allows them to begin slowly learning Priest spells. While they may wear no armor and only the staff and bare hands as weapons, they fight very well.

Psionist: Psionics are akin to Mages, but they research and study the properties of the mind, and use a form of magic which is mental in nature (termed Psionics). They are slightly more physical than Magi, and possess many strange and magical abilities, but their spell selection is limited. Masters of deception and illusion, practically every spell they possess deals with the mind or is illusionionary in nature.

The following, Demon and Tetujin, are not really classes, but races. However, players of these races can't really choose a class, and so are on the races page in addition to classes page.

Demon: Half-Demons exist within Myriad Magic. Most half-demons are arrogant, aloof, self-centered and believe that they are better than everyone else. They view other adventurers as personal challenges or tests. While self-centered most half-demons may be, most are extremely good-natured and mean well, hating their demon side in them and wishing to be as close to their human side as possible.

Tetujin: An ancient race of robots, thought to have been created by the high-tech civilization of Melenam 5,000 years ago. With a lifespan of over 10,000 years, Tetujin live for a very long time, but their memory fades like a humans. Tetujin have picked up a large fan base among the humans and demi-humans. They were mainly built for defense and are quite capable of combat. While they may not wear any armor or wield any weaponry, their bodies function as those two roles insteead. Later on, Tetujin get access to advanced built-in programs which can help them immensely.
