Review: This is an absolutly terrific movie. The story is great, the directing
is great, and the acting is great. Johnny Depp is terrific as Cesar the gypsy.
I love gypsies in movies. There’s something about a gypsy that is very romantic
and mysterious, and I swear to God that if Johnny Depp (or anyone else for that
matter) ever touched me like he’s touching Christina Ricci in that picture I’d
melt. Johnny Depp says as much when he says nothing as he does when he speaks.
This is another one of those roles where Johnny Depp says very little, but
reveals just as much, if not more, than other actors who have ten times more
lines than he does. In fact, it seems that very little is actually spoken in
this movie. There doesn’t seem to be much dialogue but the story is meaningful and
well played by the actors. I absolutely love everything about this movie. It
was extremely well done and worth seeing more than once.
Trivia: This is Johnny Depp’s third movie with Christina Ricci and also his third with John Turturro. Christina Ricci was in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas as Lucy and in Sleepy Hollow as Katrina Van Tassel. John Turturro was in The Source as Allen Ginsberg and in Secret Window as John Shooter.
