Better to have no heritage at all than to have it systematically dismantled by part-time sociologists with an O-level in architecture. The past in Ardrossan is as long dead as the people buried in it's walled cemetery.

In a glimpsed revelation, I realise we should be using technology to benefit us - and not allowing it to harangue and harness. Like a plough, a beam engine or a lighthouse on the Inchcape Rock.

Behind the ten foot high sandstone wall and two hundred years later, the newest section of the cemetery parallels and mimics our present day culture with timid 3' high tombstones standing in rows like false teeth.
