My buddy Martin has a 97 Eclipse. He installed a custom turbo kit on it. This is what his car looked like when it was stock.
Here's what his car is looking like now.
He installed the turbo system in October of 1999. The kit consists of a Garrett T-3 turbocharger (the same kind I'm installing) Spearco intercooler, 2.5" downpipe % 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust. The exhaust uses two 3" diameter resonators from a Trust exhaust system for a 3000 GT. It all ends with a Apex'i Megaphone Dunk muffler.
We installed the bigass Spearco intercooler like idiots one night and stayed up until 3 AM doing it. It was worth the power though. =)
He's using a Turbonetics Delta Gate wastegate. The 1.5" dumptube is open to the atmosphere, so it gets pretty damn loud when it opens up. He plans on re-locating the wastegate and routing the dumptube back into the exhaust.
Martin uses a Greddy Profec B to regulate boost to around 10psi. The turbo pulls hard all the way to 7700 RPM. At 15psi, loss of traction & torque steer become problematic.
His roasted brake rotors are less than a year old. They show how hard they have been put to use. They get heated up quickly when slowing down from 150 mph. =P
