Mk1 Cortina Owners Club: Introduction
An introduction to the Club:
The club was formed in 1982. The club has members from around the world including; Japan, USA, Australia, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland and Belgium. We are recognised by Ford Motor Co., and cater for all Mk1 Cortinas, whether standard or customised body or running gear.
We offer the owner/enthusiast a friendly and informal service. Our main concern is to locate spares for our members cars and pass them on to our members at very attractive rates. A bi-monthly newsletter lists the latest spares available and is full of members' letters, stories and cars/parts for sale/wanted.
We have sucessfully initiated the remanufacture of parts no longer available, i.e. front wings, and try to ensure that we have stocks of MOT related items at all times. The Mk1 is basically a strong and reliable car with and weaknesses known together with its cure. Most technical advice and modifications are readily available from club sources as are reprints of road tests etc.
The club has a stand at many of the Classic Car Shows up and down the country during the season and encourages members to attend as many of the local shows as possible.
There are a number of informal 'Pub Meets' held around the country which are run and attended by memberrs on a monthly basis. Here is an ideal place to swop yarns, parts and tales or woe - detailss of these meets appear in the magazine. If you do not have a pub meet in your area then members are encouraged to start one of their own.
One a year we hold our own National Mk1 Cortina Day. The site has camping/caravanning facilities so is ideal for those travelling long distances, as members can enjoy both days. At this gathering there are other related Ford Clubs - so there is a chance to see other models in the Ford range.
All Mk1s are welcome, so please do make the effort as the amount of spares for sale may make your journey worthwhile in itself.
We hope you will decide to join us and thus help tp perpetuate one of Ford's most successful motor cars.
