First thing my friends said when I bought my car is that the turbo is the first thing to go...well it's still alive after 350,000 miles(4/25/97). That's about 27,000 miles on average a year. Am I nuts or what...these cars are so fun to drive. I bought the car with 88,000 highway miles and after high school I used it to deliver pizza at one job and newspapers at my other job (Had to make those payments.) Unfortunately my transmission hasn't lasted as long...I'm on my 4th one. The first time I took it in they told me I had destroyed about every part in it and I needed a new one. It lasted about two years and broke two more parts. I got that fixed and it broke in a week. They told me my car idled too high and they weren't going to work on it (Don't ask.) Anyways my last transmission has a life time guarantee so I don't have to pay for that part of the car anymore. I've added a shift kit, tranmission cooler, ,harden gears, and had the valve body modified. I didn't have to have these extras done but a life time guarantee is no use if it breaks down in the middle of no where. To bad you can't get a life time guarantee on an engine. I'm on my second one and after breaking the crank in my first engine (at about 230,000 miles,) I got my engine rebuilt .030 over, balanced, plus had to find a crank out of a 1983 Buick Regal T-type. On the second engine it ran a 14.24 at 97mph with a 60 foot time of 2.28 (August 1997). Not bad for an 1984 Buick Regal T-type. The mods I've done are an aftermarket exhaust system (Dynomax), rebuilt engine(.030 over and balanced), shift kit, enhanced valve body, plugged the egr valve with an aluminum plate, valve cover breather, chrome inlet pipe, k&n filter, 160 degree thermostat, tranmission cooler, 235 60 R15 tires, and had my old torque convertor replaced with the right one (I had a regular one from a buick regal instead of a turbo regal). I know a few more parts, like a dump tube, chip, extra fuel pump, etc... I can get my car in the 12's... the amazing thing is I'm still running with the original turbo.
