IRON ORE DOCKS!
The Lake Superior and Ishpeming Railroad is the only railroad in the country that allows Motorcars on its Ore Docks. These docks are used to unload iron ore from rail cars (gravity feed) onto lake freighters. The ore is then shipped to steel mills in Indiana and Pennsylvania. The iron ore looks like grey pellets about a half inch in diamater which makes it easy to handle and transfer.This group of Motorcar operators belong to NARCOA.
