Bob; Thanks for the quick response to my comments on your wesite. I checked it out about 9-10 months ago, but to join the Polysherical Association, I needed a website, and I use my computer at work, and cannot set up a website from here. But now I found the guest book. My first car was a 65 Fury I with 318-A, column shift, manual brakes, 2 dr sedan. I just scrapped it 2 years ago after a 24 year relationship. It was hard. My 65 D-200 is my first pick-up, which I bought in 83 in CO, and frame up restored in 91 to 94. It has the 318-2, with 4 spd and 4.10 rear. During the restoration, I tweaked the engine a bit. I did all the engine and body work myself. At first I put it together with the single 4 bbl Wieand manifold, but after a few shows went back to the single 2 bbl. (bored manifold to match the Holley 350 cfm). I also retained the original oil bath air cleaner. I show it in stock classes, but also drive it a fair amount. Engine work includes port matching the heads and manifold, milling the heads 0.030", custom R/V grind cam (from Racer Brown), and hardened exhaust valve seats. Also a high volume oil pump, electronic ignition (control box hidden under the dash), Carter mechanical fuel pump, and dual exhaust pipes wiht stock exh. manifolds. It has the stock bore, original pistons with new rings and bearings. I have not had the engine dyno'd, but it definitely has much more torque than originnally. The motor had 180,000 on it when overhauled. I put about 2,000 miles a year on it now, including a 400 mile (one way ) trip each summer. I am considering a custom stainless exhaust using a single pipe following the original routing, but have it made with 3" or 3 1/2" tubing to provide a more stock look with low restriction. My other truck, currently undergoing a frame off restoration is a 66 W-300, 1 ton 4 wheel drive with a 318-3, 4 spd. and 4.88 gears. So far, the engine has been overhauled in similar fashion to the one in my 65 D-200. This is the H.D. truck motor with stelite valves and exh. valve rotators. The third poly motor is in a 63 W-300 that I just purchased a couple of weeks ago. I'm not sure what is in this truck's future yet. I've rambled on long enough. I would like to know if you have any recommendations for custom exhaust outfits, as I've heard that the businesses with the custom bending cards don't have the records to provide the true 318-A exhaust pipe that wraps around the front of the engine. Thanks, Paul
