An internet friend from the USA Robert Frenchu www.frenchu.com writes "It's kind of weird looking at Australian cars- sort of like visiting an alternate universe. They're the same- sort of- but something is not quite right.... Of course, having the steering wheel on the other side doesn't help. I see some sheet metal similarities between your car and what is referred to here as the Comet- the Mercury division version of the Falcon. They moved from the "round body" to the "square body" in 1964. Of course there is no such thing as a "Super Pursuit" version here (cool name though) or an "XP" version. There was a "Sprint" version, though, that was the high performance version of the regular Falcon. If there was a Comet version I don't know what it was. This line began in 1963, I think, and it came with a 260 cu. inch V8. Unfortunately, with the introduction of the more popular Mustang, no one was interested in Sprints and they died in 1965. The Falcon was discontinued in 1970 I think, replaced by the [ugh] Maverick. Mine is a '61 with the standard 144 cubic inch six. I don't think there is any chance it will ever pursue much of anything, except maybe a gas pump."
