Relegated to a mid pack staring position Danny Chandler spent the majority of the race clashing with KX500 mounted Jeff Ward.Here the two are shown entering the tunnel that crosses under the high speed straight.

The air cooled YZ490's proved no match for the liquid cooled KX500 of Kent Howerton on the main straight as he drafts past then outbrakes Johnson for the lead.

Howerton slots into the lead on the closing laps as Johnson goes wide chasing the front end.

Last Lap..... Rick Johnson makes a banzai attempt to retake the lead on the dirt downhill leading to the finish line straight.
