VOID VOID VOID

There are two types of stoppies. The first is where you brake to a halt then lock the front wheel with a last ditch handful of front brake. Done correctly the bike will stand on its nose, hang briefly in mid-air, then thud back to earth. Get it wrong and the front tire will skid and you'll crash. The second type of stoppie is the rolling stoppie. You will be travelling faster and you will also need excellent tire grip, brakes and optimum weight distribution. Supermotards are ideal for this. Also most race replica sport bikes fit the bill with the odd exception. Some bikes are less then ideal because they're low at the back, tall at the front like a V-Max. The way to pull a rolling stoppie is to get up to 50 or 60 mph, on a grippy road with warmed up tires and brakes, then brake, clutch in. Lean forward and sit right at the front of the seat, transferring weight onto the front wheel. You'll feel the back lifting as the forks compress. As soon as the back wheel leaves the ground, smoothly but suddenly give the brakes more pressure. At this point you could flip it and its all down to judgement and practice. With persistence you will eventually be able to go higher and longer. A word of note if your forks bottom forget it. You need more compression damping by way of heavier fork springs or fork oil. Supermotards could also benefit from a fork brace to keep things twisted in the right direction. As always any attempts at this stunt is done at your own risk!
