Car #9 in my showroom was proudly submitted to me by a Mr. Tom Turner of Huntsville, AL. He wrote:
" I started building this '79 model back in 1994 to be an ultimate street racer. I kept modifying it more & more, and then I started running BMWCCA road racing driving schools with it. Then I found a vintage road racing group (HSR) that would let me race it, which made me modify it more until it is now just about "unstreetable". I still sneak it out every now & then on the street. I guess I am lucky that Alabama will let you buy a tag for any kind of vehicle, and there are no vehicle inspections!

Just for the record, the following are the modifications Tom made to his '79:

'80 Style IMSA GTU Fiberglas body panels over stock unibody shell, braces added to front strut towers, battery relocated to improve CG, Fuel Safe 15 gallon aluminum fuel cell |
| INTERIOR |
Recaro seats, SCCA style roll bar, 5 point harness, fire extinguisher, Fittipaldi steering wheel, extra instrumentation, main electrical kill switch, full width rear view mirror; some interior panels replaced with aluminium |
| TIRES |
For dry weather, fronts are Hoosier 23/9.5-15 on 8x15 3 piece wheels wheels, rears are Hoosier 24/11-15 on 11x 15 3 piece wheels. For rain, Fronts are BFG R-1 225/50 X 15 on 8x15 wheels; rears are BFG R-1 265/50 X 15 on 10x15 three piece wheels |
| SUSPENSION | Lower, harder springs; Tokico adjustable shocks, larger sway bars, pivot point bushings replaced with delrin or spherical rod end bearings, redesigned rear Watt's linkage |
| BRAKES | Wilwood 4 piston aluminum calipers on Wilwood 12" rotors, Hawk carbon pads, Tilton dual master cylinder pedal assembly with balance bar, all stainless steel plumbing, air ducts to cool front rotors |
