WHAT I DID:

Thank you for downloading Salem Speedway.
Salem Speedway is a high banked, half mile oval track in Salem Indiana.
This track was created by Gary Beard as part of his project to make sim
racing as realistic as possible. Other aspects of his "Realism Project" can
be found at Woof Motorsports. There you will find other tracks created to
simulate real tracks as well as his AI updates for each Winston Cup track
(other tracks to come shortly).
Salem Speedway (www.salemspeedway.com) started out as Nashville Speedway
from BB&B's (www.simcyberworld.com) N@50 patch. I took Nashville Speedway and
took out all the graphics outside the track except the main grandstands. I
imported .3do files from a few other tracks (along with their corresponding
.mip files), placed them in the correct spots and edited the .mip's. I then
edited some of the existing .mip's (mostly the billboards and walls) and made
new .lp files to get the AI to run correct lines around the track. Finally,
I edited the .trk file to get the grip correct in the turns.
I used video tape from the A.S.A. race from Salem Speedway to get the track
as realistic as possible. I tried to keep the graphics to just those
necessary to make the track look realistic and keep the track.dat file from
getting too large.

THANKS:

I'd like to thank Chas and the guys at BB&B and Sim Cyberworld for their work
on Nashville Speedway. Without their work, mine would not have been possible.
I'd also like to thank all those that taught me how to edit tracks as
extensively as I can.

INSTALLATION:

** YOU MUST HAVE NASHVILLE SPEEDWAY IN ORDER FOR THIS PATCH TO WORK **
Make a directory in your ..\tracks directory called Salem. Copy the
nashvill.dat file from your ..\tracks\nashvill directory into the
..\tracks\salem directory you just created. Unzip the track.zip file in
the ..\tracks\salem directory and type install from that directory (or
click on the install.bat file from Windows).

The install routine will:
1. unpack the nashvill.dat file
2. rename all the nashvill.* files to salem.*
3. unzip the file named newfile1.zip
4. pack the salem.pck file to salem.dat
5. delete all the dust files
6. unzip the newfile2.zip file (which contains the *.lp, *.txt and other
necessary files in the track directory)

** NOTE **
This patch is not guaranteed to work on any system, and the user must install
this track at his own risk.
