9/2/98

wow, has it really been that long? sorry for the lack of updates lately (if anyone is still out there...). I'll explain briefly. We are home and fine. We actually have written the last few trip logs (except for the last day, which i will do soon), but have been waiting to post them until the final day is written, and we also have a bunch of scanned photo's to post. Figured we would just do it all at once.

anyway, you know how it is, once we got back, things got so hectic with the piles of mail, new job for me, returning after 7 weeks for Janet, and the new task of organizing our finances well enough to buy a house... scary...

a quick summary for ya though... after Durango, it was a real trial of our love :-) long days, insane heat, frustration, fatigue and sore butts. through it all though, we did have fun. even won $20 in Vegas (more on that in the actual daily log to come...). The final day was almost 500 miles of 100 degree temps crossing Nevada and California, and we were so toasted when we got home (during the Sunday night rush hour back into San Francisco, of course...) that we didnt even want to see the bike for a few days, let alone write a journal about the day.

One more thing, to answer the first question that everyone seems to ask us... no, we did not have any fights (Calgary and Vegas were both tense for a while, but we managed to focus our anger and frustrations towards the cities rather than each other), and we would both do it again in a second!!

later
david.

ps, i will admit, it is nice not having to roll up our apartment every morning :-)
