We finally did it! We packed up and rode off by 7am! The campsite had stayed pretty dry so packing up was easy. It was strange doing it for the last time. We had definitely mastered our system. The ride from the Grand Canyon was beautiful during the sunrise. The road was quiet and the deer were enjoying their morning nibbles in the meadows on the roadside. It started to rain pretty hard so for breakfast, we stopped in a caf in Jacob's Lake. The service was incredibly bad, but the coffee was hot and good.
The ride to Vegas got hot pretty quickly. The road was straight and fast and the scenery was desert but still interesting. The early start really helped us. We got to Vegas around 1pm and getting through town was slow and hot. With no reservations anywhere, I was planning to just find a place based on the billboards coming into town, only there weren't any billboards. Off in the distance we saw Circus, Circus. Last year we had the best time at the Circus, Circus in Reno with Robyn and Scottie that we decided to stay there. The lobby was wall-to-wall people, but they had a room left over. We were on the 31st floor with a great view of the strip and the bungie jumping.
We had a great plan we would grab some lunch, do some gambling, get to sleep early and have another early morning start to beat the heat. The air conditioning in the casino was wonderful!! After lunch, we started with a two-dollar, face up black jack table. I just watched David for a while trying to remember the rules. Everyone was really laid back and talkative. We played and did pretty well. Up and feeling lucky, we played roulette. In the time we were there, all three of our anniversaries and both of our birthdays came up. It was so much fun! We left while we still had some money and went to my favorite, pai gow. There was a really sweet woman sitting next to David who helped him with every hand. We all stayed and played for hours. It started feeling late, so we asked someone what time it was 3:30 in the morning! We were shocked. I guess time flies when you're winning!
Up in our room, we enjoyed the view again and went to sleep winners!
