8/15/98

After such a cold night, I was so thankful for a hot morning. The ride through Independence Pass quickly cooled us off. The Pass was gorgeous and filled with bikes, we even saw another Concours. We ran into a guy doing the Thin Air Iron Butt Rally. These events blow my mind. We had a great ride, there was traffic, but David was successful in getting around it.

We decided to skip breakfast and lunch and head straight for Glenwood Springs. A year and a half ago we had vacationed there and loved the hot springs and found a great pub, with the best onion rings in the world, so we wanted to be good and hungry when we got there.

Glenwood Springs was different than I had remembered. We had been here in December and the town was empty and covered with snow. Today so happened to be "Doc Holiday" day and the town was filled with people and activity. We got a room in a hotel just outside of town. It's not a typical hotel room, it has furniture like a home which feels nice.

Dinner at the pub did not disappoint. We tried eight different beers, had the best onion rings in the world, and a whole lot of good food. The day stayed hot so the thermal pool of the hot springs didn't feel like the thing to do. We walked around town for a bit and took the bus back to the hotel. That brings us to now, hanging out catching up on TV and enjoying the cleanliness following a long needed shower.

Tomorrow we head to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison and continue on our journey west.
