The preparations have ended, and the trip has begun! We didn’t get too far today, but that was planned. We are at Janet’s sister’s house for the night in Santa Rosa (about 1 hour north), and are taking off in the morning. I’ve got to make a quick trip into town to take care of the details at the storage yard (for the van), then we go. Hopefully we will hit the road by 10am or so and head up the coast.
Today we finished the packing (after waking up pretty late and a bit hung over…) and I rode the bike up here. Janet drove the car, as we are leaving it at her sister’s house (since we live in the impossible parking situation that is San Francisco, leaving the car at home for more than a week is not an option).
We are doing laundry right now (yeah, like you care), and eating our last home cooked meal for some time to come… And of course playing with Julia, our super cute niece.
I wasn’t sure if I was going to tell anyone about this til after the trip, but I may as well. The day before leaving, I received a job offer! I’ve decided to accept it, and will start at NLC (Next Level Communications in Rohnert Park) immediately upon returning home from our trip. It was pretty unplanned, but just too perfect to turn down. A job in my field, right where we want to move, and with people I already know and have worked with in the past! I’m pretty excited about it. Anyway, that’s the last you will hear about that, I’m on vacation!!
Hopefully, by tomorrow at this time we will be at the northern extreme of California in a campsite. Our next upload will probably be in a few days, hopefully from Portland if we get a chance to hook up with James and Hope while there.
See ya later,
david.
