DRIVER'S AND ROOKIE'S MEETING! LISTEN UP!

Well, thanks for taking your time to DL the NASCAR Goody's Dash Series SuperPatch. Before you click "download", let's get some things squared away. First of all, there are three new directories that are going to be needed to run this patch. They are called "dash" for the cars, "gdslay" for the new layout, and "gdstrk" for the GDS tracks. I know, logically, that the next question is "Well what tracks do I need to copy into the 'gdstrk' folder?" I'm glad you asked, cuz you can do this while the patch is downloading. Instead of telling you what tracks you'll need, I'll give you all the tracks ran on the schedule, in case there's some version of, say, Caraway floating around that no one hardly knows about. So, here they are:

  1. A version of Daytona (edit calendar accordingly)
  2. Hickory
  3. Caraway
  4. Night Charlotte
  5. Bristol
  6. Lanier
  7. Summerville
  8. Greenville-Pickens
  9. Orange County (available here)
  10. Southern National
  11. Myrtle Beach
  12. Concord
  13. Langley
  14. St. Augustine
  15. Louisville
  16. USA Speedway (available here)

Please keep in mind that the majority of Dash races are ran at night in conjunction with the regular Winston Racing Series Programs. So if you have the option between a night and day version, choose night except for Bristol and Daytona.

Second off, there needs to be some files in certain places. That's plain obvious. There should be a 3dfx, rendition, and regular starter for the Dash Patch in your nascar2 directory. If there isn't, please contact Tony and mention the version you need, and it will be on its way asap. There also needs to be a file called "Dash.cfg". This is your configuration file. If it is absent, copy your "race.cfg" file and rename it properly. Then, of course, there should be a calendar for the 1998 season. If it happens to be missing (which is unlikely, but in any case...), you can get a copy at Sim-Racing.Com or on our Add-Ons page. There is also a 1999 calendar posted here. The final file in your n2 directory should be "dash.dat", and its size should be around 175KB. Once all that's in place, then make sure you have your dash layout in the right folder, your tracks copied, and then you're ready to race. Also, be sure your original layout file is NOT read only. If it is, make it so it isn't.

I don't like the decals in this cockpit! Where can I get one similar to it, but without the decals?

Good Question. I know not everyone is a Pontiac fan, but because it is the predominant car in the Dash Series, we chose it as our default player car. So somebody's gonna have problems. Namely, some of you drivers that come here and drive Fords, Toyotas, etc. (sorry Ned, Robbie, Charlie, and Larry!). Don't worry, as you can pick up a new cockpit on our Add-Ons Page
as well. They don't have installs, so you'll have to do it manually. If you need to know how to work the pack/unpack utilities, give Tony an email and a readme file will be on its way.

Hey! I was watching testing on the deuce, and Chris Hall didn't have Respironics on the quarterpanel. What's up?

Just as in any other form of motorsports, sponsors and drivers change. Don't fret, however, as we're gonna try to stay on top of things and produce new, accurate, 1999 cars. Everyone knows how to install these, and they'll be on the cars page.

Enough with the Sped instructions. I came here for the patch, now give it to me!!

Hold your horses!! You still have to click the mouse a few times to get the patch installed on your hard drive. And by clicking on the aforementioned words, you'll eliminate one of them. ;)

Oh yeah... whoops ------> Download. :)
