As for the header, Jackson Racing makes the finest unit bar none. Just look at the quality of the welds and the tri-Y form of the header and you will understand why this unit is superior to all other available systems. The header can be purchased as polished stainless steel or in a ceramic coated material. The stainless steel may look pretty, but the ceramic coating looks very nice and is at least functional in use. My reasoning for chosing the ceramic coating is because for every 7 degrees of temperature rise in the engine, one horsepower is lost. It just makes the most sense for a racer to choose the ceramic.

So what does a header do for the Miata? It essentially scavenges exhaust gasses from the engine in the most effective way possible. In this manner, less "spent" air remains in the cylinder, allowing for a more efficient air/fuel mixture and thus more power. Also, since this system is tuned specifically for the Miata, a nice rumble will emit from the tailpipe not heard before with the restrictive stock exhaust manifold. A picture of Jackson Racing's stainless header can be seen below.
