The "Glide" technique. To start, all of your weight should be supported on the power/drive leg. In the center of the ring the power/drive leg will initiate the drive and torque for the delivery of the throw. Ideally, your power leg should land in the center of the ring (note in this series the power leg came up short of center).
Pivot the foot on the power/drive leg and transfer the power up and around to the hips. The upper body should remain back until the power transfer to the hips is maximized. From here it should be like a "slingshot" affect. On delivery of the shotput it is important to "follow" through completely even after the shotput has been thrown. The entire throw should have a smooth flow and explosive finish.
The throw is complete. Be sure to exit out the back of the ring and cross your fingers that was a winning throw!
