My muscle MoPar of choice is a 1967 Plymouth Belvedere wagon.
Originally a /6, column shifted 3-speed. Only option was A/C. What a good
donor for a street/strip terror!! A muscle wagon? I dunno, I just love
wagons for their practicality, love MoPars for their uniqueness, and love
neck-snapping acceleration. So I built it, drove it for awhile (ran high
12's) and decided to sport it up a bit more by doing a 2-door conversion.
Whether you like GM or not, if you like wagons, you gotta admit that the '64
2-door Malibu wagons and Nova wagons are seriously cool. But Ma and I can
do it better.
Pics are rough, and so is the car right now. It's in progress. At
least I got to start with a clean Arizona body. The conversion is being
done to look absolutely factory; the sides of a '67 2-door sedan are being
grafted in to give the rear passenger a factory rear window that rolls down.
The rear seat is being narrowed to accomodate the wheel tub relocation. All
wagons gotta have a fully functional back seat. The rear side glass will be
lexan. Here's a description of the parts I've built, swapped, traded for
and bought:
* Late '65 440, rebuilt, 10:1, milled & ported 346G heads, chrome
shafts & Crane rockers, single plane M1, Holley 3310, Hughes .535 hyd.
cam, Milodon pan, etc.
* 4-spd tranny
* Hurst Competition shifter
* McCleod street twin clutch
* 4:10 SG rear, Moser axles, narrowed w/ Moser reinforcing brace.
* American 15x10" Torque thrust D's w/ Mickey Sportsmans
* Repro '67 RO SS hood scoop
* Buckets out of a '67 'Barracuda
* Sides and doors from a '67 Belvedere 2-door sedan (post car)
* Frame is tied, SS springs have been moved inboard.
* Front disk swap parts
* Front end is completely rebuilt
- I'll keep ya posted!!
