1968 IMPERIAL 4-DOOR
440 Powered (Natch)
The amount of luxury involved in driving these cars is unreal. Getting comfortable was no problem with steering adjustable for tilt, telescopic (back and forth) and a six-way power seat. The front and rear heating unit was a welcome addition when driving the car through Minnesota winters. Other cool features included headlights that would automatically dim when oncoming traffic approached, an ignition switch which would light up at night, and a foot switch for changing radio stations without taking your hands off the wheel. The 350 horse 440 also could move the 5,000+ pound beast with a surprising amount of authority and the power disc brakes were awesome. I bought this car from French Lake Auto Parts in Minnesota (612-274-8497) from a guy named Sean who scours the United States for Imperials and also seems to have at least a half dozen on hand to sell. He promised to buy the car back from me if I ever needed to sell and was good on his word when the time came. If you ever get a chance to own one of these awesome machines, don't hesitate. One final note, 1968 was the last year for Imperial only sheetmetal. 1969 and later Imperials shared sheetmetal with New Yorkers.
