*The Seattle, Puget Sound region is an area laced with waterways both salt and fresh water. Within an hour's drive
in many directions you will find an almost startling change from city/urban scenes to rugged vistas unmatched by
any area that I have seen. From the mountains to the ocean and the SanJuan Island chain to the Olympic Rain Forest
you can visit almost any type of natural wonder that you can imagine. This includes a very large Volcanic Mountain which
towers over our region like a watchfull parent.
*Although we are blessed with a unique topography, we are also blessed with a steady rain which continues throughout
most of the year. Natives refer to it as liquid sunshine. Any outing in the Puget sound region will require that you carry rain gear,
and Gore Tex is considered to be very in fashon. Only tourists carry umbrellas however, as true Puget Sounders scorn them in
all but the very worst rain storms.
*Coffee is consumed here like wine is in many other countrys. There is a bewildering array of coffe concoctions which I won't
attempt to go in to here. Coffee is the magic elixer of the Seattlite. There has been exhaustive scientific studies into this regional
phenomenon. All have failed to explain it!
*Underneath this gray, overcast sky the economy is very sunny with Boeing/Douglas airplane company and of course Microsoft.
There are many other areas of employment such as being a "Salmon tosser" down at Pike's place market. This, however, requires
great skill. You must be able to throw a salmon up to 30 feet into a paper wrap held by the "Salmon catcher" without knocking out
any of the customers. After all, if they are out cold they wont be interested in the shop's wares!
*Enough! Follow these trails and visit our home for yourself!
