Ultra Classic Electra Glide -- The Ultra Classic Electra Glide. This is the motorcycle that conquered America, the Autobahn and the Outback. Miles are no match for this fully-loaded touring machine. Its got a barrel-locked Tour-Pak and saddlebags; a big, soft seat with passenger backrest; a full fairing including lowers; a new stereo system with rear speakers, remote passenger control and a CB with intercom headset; a fuel-injected Big Twin and cruise control. Just sit back and watch the miles shred behind you.
Seeing the countryside on an Ultra Classic Electra Glide can be therapeutic, but it's certainly not a new phenomenon. People have been touring on Harleys for decades. In the early days, motorcyclists would get together on a regular basis for a ride to the country to fish, swim and enjoy each other's company. They were called "Gypsy Tours," and, as illustrated in this article from the May 1920 issue of The Enthusiast, they could even cure a broken heart.
