The Next Three races
could go either way:

F1 Racing
August 1998.
What a race! What a season! I thought I'd seen it all but
I certainly hadn't, for there's never been anything like
Silverstone
'98. In my 50th year of commentating and fresh from my
senses-stunning ride in the two-seater McLaren with Martin
Brundle at the wheel, I've never had it so good and can hardly
believe my luck.
But in the never-ending, pressure-cooker atmosphere of Formula 1, what looked like being a repetitive series of well-deserved wins by the seemingly unbeatable McLaren-Mercedes team now looks very different indeed. Michael within two points of Mika, and the Prancing Horse giving McLaren a mighty kick in the backside - for there are now only three points between them in the constructors' contest. On then to the chocolate box location of Austria, the dreary fores straights of Hockenheim and the just-impossible-to-pass Hungaroring. Difficult to tell what the situation will be by the time you're reading the next issue of F1 Racing, with things so close. But let's try!
With Eddie Irvine driving out of his skin to back up the unmatchable brilliance of Schumacher, and McLaren under gigantic pressure, the next three races could go either way. I still think Irvine could win this year, and I hope he does, but on present form I can't see anyone from Williams, Benetton or Jordan doing so. I hope I'm wrong (and I have been known to be!) but if F1 can maintain the drama of the last three races, I'll settle for that.
