Step 1
First off get
the materials needed for the project.
>Material: Leather, Fabric, whatever you want.
>Spray Glue >Spray adhesive, $5-10 Depends. Get cheapest.
>Masonite? You might need this if there are no panels,
or really damaged ones, with holes the size of L.A.
Step 2
Clean old surface of
old fabric, and cut fabric, so it will curve around edges of board. About
an inch. or so.
Step 3
Spray the one whole side of the panel, were the fabric
lay. I cover the whole thing, so that the fabric won't sag through the
time of use.(I used Blue spray you all could see it better, "I" don't think
blue is as
sticky as the white.
NEXT: Flip fabric over, then turn board upside down(after
proper drying time) and place it on the back
of the fabric. As seen in picture 2, finished product
so far.
**IMPORTANT**
Directly after step 3 > > > >
Turn the board over, and smooth out the wrinkles, make
sure you apply the board to the FLAT fabric.
Smooth from center out.
Step 4
Start now by trimming the corners
up like I did her, and you can trim the sides up to about an inch or so
away.
Then, use an "awl" to poke the holes through the fabric
from the back of the panel. **Sorry about the glue neing there, I
forgot to pake holes until after I put it(Glue) on. Its easier to poke
holes with no glue, and not as sticky.
Step 5
Add glue to edges of fabric, and wood.
then let dry for correct amount of time.
Step 6
**Sorry about the thing in the way...I'm
not sure what it is.
This is after you fold in the corner tabs, then the sides.
Smooth is out, then poke the holes from the front to the back. This makes
it easier for the screws to go in.
any other items
needed to be added to these boards go ahead, but this is a great way to
make your own custom panels.
Please E-mail me if you ever use this, or have pictures of your bus with custom interior panels, that way I can put your picture of your ride up here, and show it off.
Update: sept. 5, 1999
Update: 10/12/99
Worked on front door panels, I used a big sheet of paper
and traced and cut and traced and cut some more, to get the front door
panel perfect. No pic's of perfection but it will show up soon.
I also put sound detener in the doors. I will maybe redo
it, since I just used small scraps...Sounds great when you shut the door
though. :)
