[Exhaust System]

The Originaly System

The original exhaust system on the DB2 is a 2-1-2 type, with aluminum canisters. There are no cross pipe chambers often seen on twin cylinder engines, but the long pipes are said to maintain torque. The original system is quite heavy, both the canister and the pipes, so modifying here will be an easy step toward enhancing DB2's tastes.

The New System

The new exhaust system on my DB2 is made by IVY Racing, a shop in Japan specializing in Bimotas and other Italian motorcycles. Unlike the original, it has a 2-2 system with a "H" letter shape cross pipe just before the canisters. Carbon fibre's chosen for the twin canisters.

The kit has both pipes and canisters, but it is not a full system, since it uses original pipes from the engine to where the rear suspension is. The new system snugs tight as you can see from the pictures, showing the quality and craftmanship of the product. (You'll notice the new system uses a different kind of stainless steel.)

The new system not only looks great, it performs even better. Since the original system did not have the efficiency for max air flow, the new system now covers it. However it is not a system with just free flowing air, but it perfectly matches normal carbs, with useful torque for street use. (I would like to have FCR carbs though.)

Don't forget the new sound! Now you know you're riding a "real" twin!
