1:30
– Sue offers to fetch deli sandwiches for us for lunch. We reluctantly
agree that eating is a good idea. While she runs the errand, Gary
finishes cleaning parts. Both of us are getting high from the solvent
fumes, because we had to close up the garage to avoid being rained/hailed
upon. Besides, it was getting cold and windy. We wistfully
reminisce about our college days.
2:00
– Sue returns with the sandwiches, Gary has finished scraping & wiping
RTV from all parts. We take a 1/2 hour break for lunch, just in time
to catch the half-time show of the Broncos/Chiefs playoff game. Gary
informs me that the thermometer in his back yard claims that it’s 44 degrees
outside. I question why he hasn’t yet carpeted and heated his garage,
which is a comparatively balmy 60 degrees.
2:30
– Newly energized, we dive in to reassembling the t-case. A bit behind
schedule, but the parts are really clean! Should make for a good
seal.
3:30 – Gary starts pounding the splined drive shaft attachment onto the new t-case shaft, having successfully bolted everything up and installed the new bearing. While he finishes that, I reattach the front drive shaft.
