Slip Yoke Eliminator Install

I recently installed the Currie slip yoke eliminator kit on my 1993 XJ with the NP231 transfer case.  I needed to do this because when I increased my lift from 3” to 5-1/2”, I introduced some severe vibrations in the rear driveline.  In addition, I wanted to move the slip away from the t-case in case I need to remove the rear drive shaft for some reason.

The Currie instructions are impeccable.  I strongly recommend that you read them through before starting, and refer to them often during the installation.  It’ll help you avoid a few minor problems.  Most of the real work was done by Gary, a talented engineering type from H-P, who is kind enough to let me tie up his talents, tools, and garage on the occasional weekend day (special thanks to his wife Sue, who lets us grunt around underneath my XJ!).  After helping him through the install, I determined that anybody with minor mechanical aptitude and a standard set of tools could do the job (no offense, Gary!).  Even a fumble-fingered finance guy like myself could eventually work it out.  Here’s some photos and the highlights of the installation.
