Mark 6

The Mark 6 was the first production car to be built by Lotus.

Using a Chapman designed "Space Frame" chassis (a number of interconnecting tubes which formed a rigid and lightweight structure, onto which the components were bolted).

The Mark 6 was sold as a Kit Car to avoid the necessary purchase tax on ready built vehicles.

Various engines could be fitted to the car, from 1172cc upwards.
Ford, Austin or MG gearboxes, brakes and wheels could be fitted to give a very fun and competitive road car or club racer.
