This model was a development of the Mark 8 and Mark 9, specially designed to take a Bristol 2000cc engine.

The Mark 10 project was a specific customer order, originally built as a one-off, but 3 more were ordered, wasting a lot of time for the company and making Colin Chapman vow not to build any cars to individual customer requirements again (unless there was sufficient financial incentive).
