ELITE

A familiar name returned to the showrooms in 1975 with the introduction of a new Elite model.
The new Elite was very different from the 50's model. The new car was now a 4-seat sports hatchback, aimed more upmarket.

Pop-up headlights were a design feature of the stylish and distinctive car.

The engine for the Elite was a new 1973cc Lotus design, front mounted and driving the rear wheels through a 5-speed gearbox.
Brakes were Front Discs and Rear Inboard Drums.

The Elite was well equiped with air conditioning, power steering, tinted glass, electric windows and a radio.

At the end of 1975, the Elite became available with a 3-speed Borg-Warner Automatic gearbox, though the car was still capable of 120mph.

1980 saw the Elite changed to Series 2.2, with the fitment of a 2174cc Lotus engine.
This model ran until late 1982, when the Lotus range was rationalised.
