94t

The Type 94T was introduced at the 1983 British Grand Prix after the 93T had proved to be hideously uncompetitive.

The 94T had been developed from the 92 chassis, but was fitted with the Renault Turbo engine.
Much was riding on the British Grand Prix in 1983.
John Player Special were wondering whether to continue with Team Lotus for 1984 and needed an incentive to stay.
De Angelis retired, but Mansell went on to finish 4th and JPS decided to stay for 1984.
Over the rest of the season De Angelis scored 5th place in the Italian Grand Prix and pole position at Brands Hatch for the European Grand Prix.
Mansell meanwhile scored 5th in Austria and 3rd and fastest lap in the European Grand Prix.

Lotus finished a lowly 7th in the Constructors Championship, but they had found competitiveness with the stopgap 94T.
Mansell finished equal 12th in the Drivers Championship, with De Angelis equal 17th.
