This is what you get for $2.21!
Yes, for a bid of a mere $2.21 to a Council abandoned
vehicle auction I secured ownership of this wonderful Toyota Corolla KE36
Panel Van, see the reciept below:
A good source of cheap wrecked vehicles is Local
Government abandoned vehicle tenders and auctions,
This $2.20 car gave up the following:
-
steering column,
-
engine mount cradles from crossmember,
-
mirrors,
-
clutch cable (KE series cables can be converted for use as
a handbrake cable, read this)
-
instrument panel (has round faced guages, all the legal lights
such as brake fail warning, and space for a tacho)
A KE30 Corolla I aquired in the past supplied the following:
-
steering column (take out the central shaft and use it as
the lower column, connected by the standard rubber flexi-joint to the top
column ,
-
wiring loom
-
handbrake and cables (I invented a system that should
work with Cortina Mk2 rear drum brakes)
-
Parts I didn't use on the Locost but could be sold, used
to recondition other parts etc:
-
K-40 transmission (sold $50)
-
rear axle (sold $40)
-
3K engine (sold $50, used in a 1200cc Speedway class)
-
alternators
-
brake master cylinder (interesting as it has a hose to connect
to a remote reservoir - good if master cyl. ends up lower than front calipers)
-
brake booster - KE30 booster is compact, but will attach
to later model Toyota master cyls.
