In all Jeeps they come with a big, overweight, power robbing fan which can easily be fixed making your Jeep more efficient all away around. I removed the so-called clucth fan from my JGC and received nothing but benefits. I purchased a 16" extra thin electric fan from Flex-A-Lite and removed the big slug from my 4.0. You'll be surprised just how heavy that sucker is. In point form I will list the benifits:
Looking at this is justifies the $150.00 (approx) for the entire setup. If cost is an issue clever Jeepers head to the wreckers and pick up a late 80's early 90's V-8 fan for normally less than $40.00. Camaro's, Iroc's, all you have to do is ask and they will probably have a pile of them for $15.00 or less. Try to get the largest blade availble with the most fins as this will flow more air to cool your now modified Jeep. I found the thinner the fan, the easier the install. You can also install 2 smaller fans to really cool it off as well. Depending on your Jeep you can run the fan off a manual switch or run it off a thermostatic switch. Yes, there are benefits of both, as a manual switch is very nice for going in those deep puddles. I installed a thermostatic switch as I didn't want the hassle of flicking a switch on the way to dinner. A thermostatic switch has a metal prong which just slides into the fins of your rad, the sensor can be mounted with two screws and is fully adjustable to your temperature needs. I really like the fan as you can here the fan switch on and off, knowing when its off your saving $$$ and making pony's. Any other experienced Jeeper also notices as the Jeep has a different fan noise which is cool. In the winter its great cuz i've noticed it doesn't really even go on. This just shows how much power is wasted with the(steel wheel). Here's a couple of pics of different fans you can use in your Jeep.
