![]() Suzuki Baleno 1.6 GLX
I will start with the downsides of the Baleno. The first is sound insulation ,or the lack of it. It's a noisy car to be in. The second fault isn't really a flaw. I would merely like to point out that it's a relatively cheap family car, and therefore must not be expected to perform in the level of a Ferrari or be as luxurious as a Rolls Royce. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, Let me tell you about the Baleno. I chose to drive the 1.6 GLX manual gear version because it is the most common of the Baleno models. A look under the hood reveals a modern 4 cylinder 16 valves engine that produces 95 horsepower - more than enough to power the lightweight (kerb weight 955kg) Baleno and give the car good acceleration abilities. It takes this car 9.7 seconds to get from nil to sixty and it performs very well when it comes to hitting the gas at the green light, which makes it a more than reasonable urban car. The breaking system consists of the industry standard forward disc and back drum. It's just a very good car all around. the 346 litre trunk is roomy, which is a big plus for a family car. Its maximum speed may be modest (109mph) but this is a small price to pay.At 38 miles per gallon(14.5 km/litre), the Baleno goes further than most cars in its category on a gallon of gas. It's finishing is above average and its handling is relatively smooth. The steering wheel is pleasant and allows easy parking even when space is tight. At the end of the day, it is a very good deal. If it's a cheap to maintain and purchase family car you're looking for, I doubt anyone will give you better value for your money. If you are working on a middle class budget and the likes of Mercedes,Porsche and BMW are beyond your grasp, the Baleno is the car for you. The Suzuki Baleno gets a "thumbs up" and a warm recommendation. Back to Car Reviews. |
