Dodge introduced the Demon a year after Plymouths Duster debut in 1970.It came original with a 340 cu in small-block with 275 hp, the Demon came standard with a heavy-duty three-speed manual, Rallye suspension consisting of beefed-up torsion bars and a stiffer sway bar up front, heavier leaves in the back, and upgraded shocks all around. A long list of options could dress up the Demon and punch up the power. The Demon could turn 14.5 sec on the quarter mile. Chrysler's production of the Demon in 1971 reached 10,098. It was the ultimate small-block performer.The 1971 Dodge Demon 340 is Dodge's answer to the popular 1970 Plymouth Duster. The Swinger's front clip was put onto the Duster's fastback body design along with a new rear tail light panel and the 1971 Demon was born.
